Eeyore needs Prozac

Your mind wanders when you're doing research papers for hours on end, and I thought about how as a child I had a stuffed Pooh and Eeyore, and I always liked Eeyore the best. However, these days I'm surprised they haven't said Eeyore is not a good toy for children because he suffers from depression.

Then again maybe Pooh's inability to stay focused and he would be diagnosed with ADHD and they would recommend Ritalin or Adderall.

Rabbit would have had OCD. Tigger was either manic or ADHD and you know Christopher Robin had schizophrenia. ;)

Another nurse and I had a conversation late one night about how Eyeore needed Prozac! I'm so glad other people's minds work the same way mine does. That is very comforting. And yes, Estelle, you are absolutely right about Tigger, Rabbit and Cristopher Robin! Maybe Tigger has both mania and ADHD. Is Piglet codependent? Lol...Psych has never been so interesting :)

rnraquel, yes we nurses are a strange lot, we like to medicate and diagnose, and how many professions encourage their clients to have a good bowel movement and are happy when they do so.

Eeyore has depression, excessive sadness, not his fault this brain chemical imbalance, but if he takes Prozac and gets angry instead of sad at things he perceives as wrong, then it IS HIS fault for this brain chemical imbalance, and off to jail or the morge he goes.

WHY is it his fault?

If Eeyore has the courage to seek help ( well nigh impossible, most days for him) and takes Prozac, why is it his fault if it makes him angry?
Isn't it the doctpor's responsibility to take an IN DEPTH profile of EEYORE as person including all known feelings and symptoms BEFORE prescribing?

Wouldn't Celexa be a better choice for Eeyore? Or perhaps a calming drug or mood stabilizer in addition to the Prozac?
I agree Prozac would certainly perk old Eeyore right up; we just don't want him Toooo perky!
